Glasgow’s Welcome is a beautiful story for both children and adults alike. It is a wonderful capture of the welcome that so many people in Glasgow and beyond have extended to those most recently arrived. Join us to celebrate it’s publication and to hear it read by the author, Jennifer T. Doherty.

About the Event
The launch event will include scheduled readings of Glasgow’s Welcome from the author, Jennifer T. Doherty; an opportunity to meet and create with illustrator Gillian Robertson; and reading in both Gaelic and Arabic are also to be confirmed.

Jennifer T. Doherty is the author/co-author of 12 children’s books, set in Scotland and North Northumberland. Inspired by the spirit of place, she loves to offer books where children can see familiar locations in the story.
She was moved to create Glasgow’s Welcome after hearing stories of the generosity of Glasgow’s people toward refugees, and their often-mentioned understanding that the givers gained more than anything they gave.
Gillian Robertson is a bookbinder and illustrator, with a studio in Glasgow. She is a prize-winning graduate of Glasgow School of Art.
Glasgow’s Welcome is her the third book in collaboration with Jennifer T. Doherty. The Unicorn of Holy Island, and The Sea Unicorn of Mull are her other books.
Serafina Press is an independent Scottish publisher, founded in 2004 in the Scottish Borders.
It aims to produce art-driven children’s picture books, celebrating local towns and landscapes. To date, Serafina Press has 16 books in print, some in translation, and has sold more than 75,000 books worldwide.
